Michael and Darren’s suite on Bowen Island is simply exceptional. Every detail has been thought through, from the sauna and hot/cold plunge to the aromatherapy, private fire pit, and beautifully secluded backyard setting. It works perfectly as a romantic escape or a family getaway.
What sets this place apart is the generosity of the hosts. The suite was stocked with everything you could possibly need, and their warmth and thoughtfulness came through in every aspect of the experience. I’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it.

Mike and Darren were amazing hosts – they really catered the entire Cedarwood experience to what we wanted our focus to be. I felt like this was a truly innovative and elevated spa experience and was a perfect getaway from the city. The Barnfield suite was very spacious and tidy, and we appreciated how homey and comfortable the suite felt. I absolutely loved how serene and woody the home smelled, and the architecture of the home and the contrast therapy area was immaculate. It’s great to know that this Airbnb is pet-friendly and I hope to be back soon with my fur babies. Truly an incredible experience and the hosts were so kind and hospitable.

We only stayed at Cedarwood Elements for 24 hours, but it felt like a complete mental and physical reset. As frequent travellers used to high-end stays, this experience stood out for how intentional and carefully considered every detail was. We stayed in the Coast room, which felt quiet, private, and genuinely comfortable. The buttery soft Sateen linens made for one of the best sleeps we’ve had in a long time.
The highlight was our first contrast therapy session. We chose the Earth Elemental Journey, and what stood out was how thoughtfully everything was curated—from the grounding soundtrack to the teas and small reflective touches that made the experience feel personal. Time by the fire added to the sense of calm. This is not a typical stay. It feels personal, considered, and genuinely restorative.

We had such a wonderful stay at Michael and Darren’s place on Bowen Island. Their contrast therapy spa is beautiful and such a relaxing and peaceful space to truly unwind.
Michael and Darren were incredibly hospitable and kind. Since we arrived on foot, they even offered us rides, which we truly appreciated. It’s clear they genuinely care about their guests and pay close attention to the small details that make a stay feel extra special and seamless, including complimentary drinks and snacks, as well as a thoughtful parting card and token to remember our visit.
Overall, it was such an enjoyable and memorable getaway. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing escape on Bowen Island.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay and found this to be one of our favorite Airbnbs ever! The hosts were very communicative, providing helpful information and recommendations on what to do on Bowen Island. The space itself was very comfortable, notably clean, and most importantly, filled with so many thoughtful touches – from a sweet welcome note, to a variety of snacks and drinks, to games, and even some special treats and comfy bed for our dog. All in all, a great short trip, and a place we hope to return to!

The suite exceeded our expectations. It was a wonderful spot for our family to recharge and have quality family time together. We appreciated the added personalized touches that made it feel like a real vacation. The amenities were top notch and all the little details were much appreciated. This was our second stay this year. This time, without our kids! My husband and I had a few days off so no hesitation to book with Michael and Darren. They communicated well before, during and after. We had shared feedback from our last stay and they addressed each item! We were very impressed! When we arrived, we loved the smell of the pine needles outside. Once inside, it was like entering a spa! The place was warm and had a lovely scent. We also lucked out with the weather. Sunshine every day. Michael and Darren are the consumate hosts!

We had an amazing stay at Mike and Darren’s place. The suite was perfect for three of us. Great layout, tastefully furnished and decorated, absolutely spotless, and exceptionally well-stocked.
Being here in November, we didn’t make use of the outdoor spaces but the front patio with bbq and eating area has a view of the water while the back patio has a very cozy and private sitting area.
Mike very thoughtfully provided recommendations for activities tailored to our preferences, as well as a discount code for Mist. I appreciate that they provide products from on-island businesses in the suite.
Check-in and check-out instructions were very clear.

You won’t find better hosts – Mike & Darren very clearly take pride in providing the best experience possible and are generous hosts. They go above and beyond any Airbnb we’ve stayed at – from extra welcoming touches, high quality linens and furnishings we felt very comfortable. It doesn’t have that lived in by many people effect some Airbnb’s have and I suspect it’s cleaned by the owners vs a cleaning company because no detail has been overlooked. We hope to be back.

Wow! We had a fantastic stay and were lucky to find this place! Michael and Darren were incredibly thoughtful with all of the small touches throughout the property and were incredibly responsive! I stay in Airbnb’s and hotels almost weekly with my job and this one stood out.

Attention to detail!
Frig and cupboards supplied with everything one could possibly need. I was really impressed with the tea drawer and the selection of teas. T he brochure write ups were well written and informative. I love how they support local businesses. So nice. It was a fantastic home away from home. M y dog had a big beautiful bed and Darren and Michael supplied my dog with treats. And a big dog water/ feeding station. The welcome sign on the wall,welcoming us all by name… my daughter was impressed

My daughter and I stayed at Michael’s place on Bowen Island to celebrate her PhD completion. The area is lovely. We were pleasantly surprised by how quiet the house and surroundings are. It’s a short drive to Snug Cove, where many of the island’s restaurants and shops are located. Bottom line: stay there, you won’t regret it!

This may have been one of the nicer air bnb stays I’ve ever had. From the space itself, to the location of the property, to the friendly hosts, this was a fantastic experience from start to end. The place was clean and comfortable and had everything you need and more for a comfortable and relaxing stay on Bowen Island. I would highly recommend booking your stay here and we will be back in the future!

The Barnfield Suites is like a home away from home. We felt so welcome in this beautiful, clean suite. Well stocked with everything needed and thoughtful, generous touches. Michael and Darren kept us up to date with pertinent ferry info and fun offerings available around town. We loved the personalized listings of places to see/eat.
Our favorite spot was the tranquil backyard – comfortable patio furniture, beautiful rock bluff view, new hammock. Great place for a morning coffee or afternoon siesta. And to top it off – the beds, linens and pillows were super comfortable.

Bowen Island is always top of list to visit while in the Vancouver area. First time staying there for 3 days and wow did we love Barnfield Suite!! Hands down the best experience we have had because of all the little things that our hosts provided on top of a very clean, equipped, modern, and comfortable space!! Absolutely loved our stay!

This is our second visit to the Barnfield Suites and we had a wonderful time again! The suite is extremely clean and well-equipped and full of thoughtful details. We visited over the Easter weekend and Mike and Darren even left some chocolate treats for our son to find (he was delighted!). My spouse and I had a really wonderful stay at Mike and Darren’s! The suite was lovely, comfortable, impeccably clean, and well stocked with everything anyone could ever need. They also left lovely welcome goodies for us and for our pup! Communication was great and they provided personalized and detailed recommendations for everything we were interested in and even updated us with changes to the ferry schedule on the day we departed. Michael and Darren went above and beyond to provide a pristine, welcoming home, with everything we needed and more! They put a lot of thought into making their guests comfortable, including cold drinks in the fridge, snacks in the pantry, a box of handmade organic chocolates as a welcome gift, and even treats for our dog! The home was spotless and the linens crisp. We felt instantly relaxed. You won’t be disappointed if you’re considering staying here.

Darren and Mike went above and beyond in this Airbnb. From the moment we booked, everything was personalized – from the welcome letter and welcome board to the list of recommended activities for us and our puppy. There were also a lot of snacks and drinks in the pantry and fridge. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed, even a dog bed for our pup! Darren and Mike also left a box of chocolates because we mentioned that it was a getaway for my wife’s birthday. We loved our stay and 100% recommend this Airbnb to anyone!
