Looking to stroll to Snug Cove and all the restaurants, cafes, stores, grocers, library and ice cream? It’s a short 30 – 35 minute walk from The Barnfield Suites along country roads and beautiful forest trails to scenic Snug Cove community and ferry terminal.
You could also drive or bike down to Robinson Road and then walk along the Dorman Point Trail if you wanted to shrink the trip to 10 – 15 minutes.
Either way, Dorman Point Trail is a beautiful walk through to Crippen Regional Park where you will find old growth trees, beautiful ferns & foliage, orchards, a wide range of birds, flowers and scenic views. Crippen Regional Park is situated next to all the Snug Cove community amenities and services.
Here are the directions to Snug Cove / Crippen Regional Park from The Barnfield Suites:
1 | Walk towards Taylor Road
From The Barnfield Suites, walk downhill along Channel View Road towards Snug Cove until you reach the mailbox (where Channel View Road curves 90 degrees). Please note that if you walk uphill from your suite, you will reach Valhalla. This is the wrong direction.
Continue walking until you reach the intersection of Cliff Road and Taylor Road. Make a left turn onto Taylor Road. You’re heading in the wrong direction if you see a camper van.
2 | Continue walking along Taylor Road
Continue walking north along Taylor Road and enjoy the beautiful foliage, cliffs and peek-a-boo views. Just be aware of light traffic as there are no sidewalks.
3 | Walk through to Robinson Road
As you walk along Taylor Road, you will reach a 4-way stop sign. Stop, and then walk through straight (north). You will notice that Taylor Road has now turned into Robinson Road. If you end up on Hummingbird Lane or Dorman Road, you’ve gone the wrong way!
4 | Continue walking along Robinson Road
Walk along this beautiful country road … you’ll pass a big parked boat.
5 | Dorman Point Trail entrances
You’ll reach a large open space where you will find the entrance to 2 trails: Dorman Point Trail to Snug Cove and Dorman Point Trail to Viewpoint.
If you are driving, this is also where you would park your car and then walk the trails. You can bike to this point as well, but you would have to walk your bike to Crippen.
The entrance to the left is for Dorman Point Trail to Snug Cove. It’s a windy trail that will lead you straight to Crippen Regional Park and to Snug Cove along a beautiful boardwalk. There are picnic tables and outdoor fire pits for public use at Crippen too.
The entrance to the right is for Dorman Point Trail to the Viewpoint. The slightly uphill trail will lead to scenic views of Howe Sound and beyond.
